Inbox Status
Hey Shrinky-dinks! I’m sorta back from my hiatus, and have been looking through my inbox. The asks I’ve gotten have been stacking up over time, and I’m not sure how many of these are still relevant to the asker’s current works.
Here’s the deal. I’m planning on deleting the bulk of the older asks from my inbox soon. There are a few old answers in progress lingering in my drafts that might eventually see the light of day, but I need a fresh start.
If you’ve sent in a question OVER A MONTH AGO that you’d still like answered, please re-send it in!

The Shrink is in!
Tumblr media
[[A cartoon of a smiling Brainy wearing a graduation cap and a crudely rendered gold masters hood. Brainy proudly holds a rolled up diploma in one hand.]]
The Shrink has now earned her M.S. in Clinical Psychology! Yay!
So now that school’s done with, I’ll be starting to work on this blog again! I will be going through my inbox somewhatly, but if you have a question you still really want answered, please send it in again so I know which ones to prioritize (since at this point most of them are months old)!
Thanks for staying with me, Shrinky-dinks! Let’s do this!

Shrink’s Movie Night!
The votes are in, and the movie night will take place this Saturday (December 9) at 6 pm EST! For exactly what time that is in whatever time zone you are in, check this link here!
The movie we’ll be watching is...drumroll, please....
Tumblr media
[Image: an angry brain wearing glasses, about to mightily smite the logo for the “Anger Management” movie with a DSM-5]
Anger Management!
It’s an Adam Sandler movie where Jack Nicholson plays the therapist who makes KNK look competent. It’s even worse than it sounds.
Year: 2003
Runtime: 106 minutes
Rating: PG-13
Summary (courtesy Rotten Tomatoes):
Dave Buznick (Adam Sandler) is an even-tempered businessman who, after a series of strange misunderstandings on an airline flight, finds himself accused of air rage. A judge sentences Dave to undergo anger management therapy, and he soon finds himself in the care of Dr. Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), a celebrated therapist. However, Dave's group therapy sessions with a handful of truly disturbed individuals -- among them jumpy ex-con Chuck (John Turturro), obsessive sports fan Nate (Jonathan Loughran), slow-burning Lou (Luis Guzman), egocentric Andrew (Allen Covert), and bisexual porn stars Gina and Stacy (Krista Allen and January Jones) -- leave him far more unsettled than when he arrived. Later, when Buddy decides to move into Dave's home for intensive therapy, he soon discovers Buddy has more than a bit of his own anger to resolve, and that no one brings out Dave's deeply buried inner rage quite like Buddy.
Oh boy. We are in for a wild fucking ride, Shrinky-dinks!
Note - There is a lot of potentially triggering content in this movie that is played for laughs. All of it is in incredibly poor taste at best, and heinously offensive at worst.
Extensively and/or graphically depicted:
Transphobia
holy shit this is real real bad. If you are at all triggered by transphobia, do not watch this movie.
Fatphobia / eating disorders
Ableism (practically omnipresent)
Bullying
Violence
Homophobia
Sexual objectification
Cissexism
Emotional abuse
Racism
There are also jokes about the following topics, but these things do not actually happen or are clearly explicitly stated to be lies:
Child on child sexual abuse
Suicide
Mass shootings
Antisemitism
Prison rape
Now that that’s out of the way, here’s some logistical stuff!
You will need to locate a stream for the movie. It is available on Netflix, Amazon Video, Youtube, Google Play, and Itunes. There are likely illegal free online streams out there but I cannot in good conscience endorse them.
The Shrink’s commentary will take place on Discord. There will be a new server that will be opened an hour or two before the stream starts.
I’m so psyched, y’all! This is gonna be fun!

One Year Anniversary!
Holy shit, y’all. It’s been one year since I made this blog.
I’d like to take the time to thank all the people who’ve helped me get this far.
Firstly, I’d like to thank the three people without whom Scriptshrink would never even have been created:
M., my co-author. Without you, I’d never have gotten into writing at all. We’ve spent 650,000+ words putting our characters through hell, and I’ve loved every minute of it. The books we’ve already written are amazing, and I eagerly look forward to seeing where we go next.
The matriarch of medicine herself, @scriptmedic. You forged the way for all the rest of us. You have been there for us through thick and thin, through drama and trolls, even though you never signed up to lead the 50+ people who wanted to follow your example. I still don’t know how you managed it, but I’m glad you have.
D., for providing the initial push I needed to actually make the blog. Your support and insight means the world to me, and I can always count on you to bolster my spirits and make me laugh (or flail on my keyboard).
I’d also like to thank the people who have kept me going. I won’t lie, it’s been rough at times, but y’all have made it worth it to stick with it.
All of the ScriptShrink consultants. I cannot say enough how grateful I am that you take the time and spoons to share your experiences to help my readers.
The greater Scriptfam as a whole. From giving each other advice on posts to learning all kinds of weird things, every day in the chat has been an adventure. Even those of the family who have gone inactive and/or have archived their blogs won’t be forgotten by me.
And you, my readers. I’ve said it before, but if people weren’t sending me questions and sharing my posts, I would have given up a long time ago. There’s almost 7,000 of you following my blog, and I’ve received over 1,000 asks in total. I am so sorry I can’t answer all of you, but I am so glad that I can help who I can.
Thanks to all of you, from the bottom of my heart. <3

I don't know if you're aware of it already but your tag page is broken. All I get is a blank post that says "Tags" and nothing else.
Ah, shit. It does that sometimes. Luckily I was able to generate an updated backup - I’ve tossed it into a googledoc that you can view here (as well as added a link on the tag page).
Thanks for the heads up, and sorry for the inconvenience!

I love your image descriptions. I've found very few writers/bloggers/etc who write them with the same style and flair as the rest of their content so I think it's very cool that you do.
Aww, thank you! I do my best :D
If there’s anything else I can do to help make my blog more accessible, please let me know!

Updated FAQ and Taglist!
The Shrink has updated the FAQ! See the shiny new one here.
The biggest change is that I am now taking questions about psych meds! I am by no means an expert, but I have a lot more experience and knowledge regarding psychopharmacology now.
I’ve also updated the taglist! Be sure to check it out before you send me questions!

I sent an ask a while ago, and you redirected me to Scripttraumasurvivors, are they still active? Because I haven’t seen a lot of their posts in a while...
Yes, @scripttraumasurvivors is active! Their most recent post was about a day ago. They receive a lot of asks; it may take time for yours to be answered!

Hiatus Announcement
So I hate to do this, but I need to take a break from blogging and stuff for a while. Between classes and my new internship, I simply don’t have the time I need to dedicate to this blog.
I’m leaving my inbox open because some questions can be redirected to the Scriptshrink Consultants, but just know that it’ll be a while before it gets answered.
